Sophisticated Systems, Inc. Helps Licking County Library Provide Innovative Solution to Serve Patrons

Columbus, OH., December 8
Sophisticated Systems, Inc. (SSI) is proud to be a strategic partner to library systems across the state of Ohio and to announce that Licking County Library (LCL) system recently engaged the SSI team to help them implement a very exciting project– the first Envisionware 24-Hour Library in the state!
Enhancing service to its patrons with 24-hour access to more than 350 items, the “Library-in-a-Box” is an innovative solution that allows LCL to better meet the needs of its district.

The implementation of this project hinged on SSI’s ability to ensure the IT infrastructure was able to support the Envisionware software, as well as an ability to coordinate the phases of the implementation between vendors and partners.

SSI has been supporting Licking County Library’s technology environment for several years and in that time, has helped the organization improve its infrastructure – improving connectivity between branches, strengthening security and protecting data, and providing proactive support that has reduced downtime to nearly zero.
Additionally, SSI has been able to leverage its existing relationships with organizations such as OARnet and TechSoup, and to navigate programs such as E-Rate, which has allowed LCL to procure needed technology while operating within the organization’s budgetary constraints.

“Bringing in SSI really kept things from becoming a problem,” explained Anne Kennedy, Head of Emerging Technologies and Digital Content for Licking County Library. SSI has “brought our library system into the 21st century and it’s been very beneficial for our library system and for our customers.”

Supporting six library systems across Ohio, SSI has a unique understanding of the challenges libraries face when it comes to technology – including a lack of skilled IT staff, the challenges associated with having multiple locations, and the need to cost effectively procure technology.

“We understand the impact libraries have on their communities and we are proud that our services enhance their ability to better serve them,” remarked Sophisticated Systems’ Managing Director Zach Evans. “If we can help them fulfill their missions, it’s a big win for us all.”
